This degree will be available from October 2008.
The BA (Hons) Mobile Entertainment degree teaches students how to develop content for mobile devices.
The types of content covered include web sites, animation, multimedia, games, video, photographs and images, sound and music. Typical mobile devices considered include mobile phones, iPods, Play Station Personal and personal multimedia players.
In the first year of the degree, key content technologies are introduced, particularly animation, web development, games, video and photographic/image editing. Mobile devices and applications are also explored.
In the second year, students may continue with these themes or substitute them for others such as digital drawing, sound or music.
This course is unique in offering these new, exciting computer technologies in one degree and by concentrating on content that could be delivered online or to mobile devices.
Mobile phone businesses now feature in the top ten world companies, with forecasts of sector growth and employment prospects being very encouraging.
Students may choose to spend a year in industry after their second year or opt to continue immediately with their final year options.
Full time undergraduate degrees are taught over three years at the university, plus perhaps, a "sandwich" year in industry after the second year.
These are the modules you could expect to study on this course. The modules you can choose in your Second and Final years will depend on those you have studied in preceeding years. Also, some second and final year modules may be changed or restructured in order to keep the course up to date with latest trends in the industry.
