More details ...
On this course, students learn how to analyse, design, construct and manage computer-based information systems. They also examine how the use of information technology can set in motion processes that change the nature of work and social relationships.
In addition to looking at how the more traditional information technologies can improve internal business processes, students learn about the emerging multimedia and communication technologies and explore their potential for business organisations.
Topics covered include how to market a business on the web, how to manage an online business and how organisations are using information technology to gain a strategic advantage. Students also consider concepts such as virtual businesses, look at new business opportunities for information-based products such as multimedia games and digital journals and learn how new ways of communicating via newsgroups, bulletin boards and other e-mail-based endeavours are changing the way we do business.
Students may choose to spend a year in industry after their second year or opt to continue immediately with their final year options.
Full time undergraduate degrees are taught over three years at the university, plus perhaps, a "sandwich" year in industry after the second year.
These are the modules you could expect to study on this course. The modules you can choose in your Second and Final years will depend on those you have studied in preceeding years. Also, some second and final year modules may be changed or restructured in order to keep the course up to date with latest trends in the industry.
