Daytime only or Daytime and Evening
Up to a maximum of 9 years (Normally 2 or 3 depending on existing qualifications and work experience)
This degree offers a great deal of scope for individual choice. It will suit students who want to gain a level of computer literacy but who want to specialise in less technical areas.
Normally open to students who posses an HND in a computing subject, but applicants with other post 16 qualifications are encouraged to contact the admissions tutor (Phil Knight) to discuss possible options.
A particular set of modules are offered each year on a day release basis (one day and evening per week) so that students with an HND (or similar) in a computing discipline can obtain an honours degree in two or three years (depending upon work related experience).
Other flexible modes of study exist which allow students to select modules from any of the computing degrees offered in the Computing & Multimedia field of study. Individual guidance will be given to advise students on how to put together a coherent set of modules in each year of study.
All students undertake an individual project in their final year, alongside four other final year modules, chosen from a wide range of Computing & Multimedia options.
Please note that due to timetable constraints, it is not possible to complete this course by evening only study.
Current subjects involve the study of Database Systems, Computer Networks, Computer Security, Systems Development, New and Emerging Technologies, techniques used in Research, and Human Computer Interaction.
The flexible nature of the course, does allow other subjects to be taken instead of any of the above, subject to the limitations of the timetable.
For further information regarding the content of any of the subjects to be studied, please contact the admissions tutor.
The normal minimum entry requirements are an HND (or equivalent) in a computing related course.
Mature students, or students with qualifications other than an HND are encouraged to apply and should call the admissions enquiries number to arrange an informal interview to discuss options before applying.
