Course Structure and Content

The BSc (Hons) Web Development is designed to produce graduates with the skills required to develop sites and systems for the World Wide Web. These might be purely information sites, but are much more likely to be web-based information systems.

Graduates will have skills in three main areas: pure web development (including analysis, design, programming and authoring); multimedia development and traditional computing (particularly databases and programming).

Many web sites and systems today require systematic planning, development and maintenance and there will be an engineering ethos pervading the route. Also, key skills are vitally important for graduates that will probably work in a group-based environment (possibly multi-disciplinary), and these are introduced and developed throughout the route. The degree concentrates on on-line multimedia i.e. multimedia applications for the Internet and World Wide Web, and on application development and programming rather than content production.

Students may choose to spend a year in industry after their second year or opt to continue immediately with their final year options.

Course Structure and Content

Full time undergraduate degrees are taught over three years at the university, plus perhaps, a "sandwich" year in industry after the second year.

These are the modules you could expect to study on this course. The modules you can choose in your Second and Final years will depend on those you have studied in preceeding years. Also, some second and final year modules may be changed or restructured in order to keep the course up to date with latest trends in the industry.
