The School of Computing is a leading provider of innovative and exciting higher education courses in the UK. The School's courses range from 'bite sized' professional development delivered in the community to cutting edge PhD and postdoctoral work.
The School operated its first undergraduate computer science programme in 1966 so has a long and successful track record in the field recognised by Her Majesty's Inspectors, the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the British Computer Society. The School's first part-time postgraduate programme started in the late 1970's with it first full-time postgraduate programme starting in 1983.
From its small beginnings, the School has grown to around a hundred and twenty academic staff with the relevant support infrastructure in terms of technical and administrative staff. Academic staff are recruited from both academic and industrial environments to help ensure the School's courses are not only academically strong but industrially relevant.
The courses within the School range from the very creative (e.g. BA (Hons) Computer Animation) to the very technical (e.g. BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming); from the long established (e.g. BSc (Hons) Computer Science) to the new (e.g. BA (Hons) Digital Music Creation). These courses are supported by over thirty laboratories within the School offering specialist equipment.
More details of the courses presently running at the School of Computing can be found on the University of Teesside course pages.
