
School Facilities
The School has 29 laboratories available with over 500 computers supported by a team of 30 technicians. These labs provide the opportunity for studying multimedia, games music, graphics and post production as well as programming and software design.
We now boast over 100 academics teaching a range of courses from Games Design to Software Development to Digital Music. Students have access to their own personalised web site that provides them with their timetable, online helpdesk and teaching materials.
The School of Computing offers:
- 6 Multimedia labs with software such as Macromedia Studio and Adobe Photoshop.
- 4 General Purpose labs with software such as Microsoft Office.
- 5 Games Labs which offer the latest graphics cards and are available for testing the most sophisticated of games.
- 4 Unix labs which are backed up by a team of specialists.
- A new Apple Mac lab with 21 of the latest high-specification machines.
- A new Digital Music lab with with facilities to compose and record music.
- A new Networks lab allowing students to look at all aspects of a working network.
- A new Motion Capture lab allowing the use of equipment used in many modern blockbusters.
- 3 graphics labs running the latest animation software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Softimage|XSI.
The school provides students with multiple server based services to help produce their work.
- A Games server.
- Their own web space.
- A range of the latest web servers including Apache and IIS and .NET.
- Database services for a range of platforms.
