The Foundation Degree in Computing (Networking) is delivered at Darlington in conjunction with the University of Teesside.
This is a full time course over 2 years and is appropriate for those who wish to become computer networking / IT specialists. Typical study modules include Networking Theory, Routers and WAN Technologies.
Students will also gain a broad knowledge of a wide area of computer based topics, including IT Applications, Principles of Maintaining Computer Systems and User Support. Time is also spent on improving study skills through Professional Studies.
Work Based Learning is a part of this degree and will involve students undertaking activities at employer's premises for the equivalent of 1 day a week.
The College has recently beeen redeveloped on a new site and includes dedicated computer networks labs and a Higher Education suite. The new learning centre is one of the most innovative designs in the country as the College works in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council, Darlington Borough Council, Tees Valley Regeneration and Shepherd Construction to be a key element of Darlington's new Central Park regeneration development, off Haughton Road.
The Foundation Degree programme incorporates the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) syllabus and the course has been designed to enable successful students to progress straight onto the final year of the University's BSc (Hons) Degree in Computer Studies.
