This course provides students with the widest possible choice in terms of the topics they wish to study (selected from modules offered within the Computing and Multimedia fields of study).
In this way, students can choose to combine those areas that they find most interesting or will provide the skills appropriate for a particular career. It is both a first choice HND course and one to which students can transfer should they decide their original course choice was inappropriate.
Timetable constraints are likely to restrict the combinations of modules that can be studied and some modules require knowledge prior to joining the course. Students on the other courses can transfer to this one should their original choice be inappropriate.
Subject to various conditions, students can choose any modules from the other courses described on these pages for their second year options.
Students can choose to take an elective (an optional extra module) to broaden their studies or to prepare for subsequent progression to a degree course. Taking an elective can increase option choice in subsequent semesters.
Students who complete the HND successfully may progress straight on to the second year of the BSc(Hons) degree in Computer Studies.
The overriding consideration when admitting students is whether they are likely to succeed on the course. In particular, mature students (over 21) may be exempt from the standard entry requirements. All prospective students are welcome to speak to an admissions tutor about their qualifications and which course is most likely to suit them.
