For over 30 years we have delivered internationally recognised Higher National Diplomas that have equipped our students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current or future employment or for progression to an undergraduate degree.
Our HNDs have several key features.
Our computing courses in Software Development and Information Technology both provide essential core skills in communications, IT and Internet applications. The Information Technology course provides the fundamentals of visual programming and specialises in the utilisation of databases. The Software Development course is distinguished by its opportunity for you to undertake a 2 year programming course covering C programming and Visual Basic.
We offer two Web based courses. Both provide essential skills in web page construction, multimedia content production (images, sounds and so on) as well as professional issues encountered by web developers in business. The Web Development course emphasises the technical aspects of the web (programming, databases etc); while in contrast the Web Design course emphasises the artistic side of digital image production and manipulation.
All of our HND programmes relate to transferable skills - for example, the ability to work as part of a team; the ability to think creatively and the ability to manage time effectively.
Students appreciate the fact that there are fewer timed tests and more projects, enabling them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to their full potential. In this way students have greater control over their performance, which is graded throughout the course.
In this way BTEC Higher Nationals are "real-life" qualifications.
