When to apply

UCAS will start receiving applications for 2010 entry from the start of September 2009. The first deadline for receipt of applications is 15th January 2010. After this date, applications will be marked by UCAS as late. The School of Computing are normally happy to consider applications until the end of June when Clearing begins.

How to apply

You will need to complete an UCAS Application Form. This is done using a secure, web-based application system which can be found, together with more detailed instructions on how to apply, on the UCAS website.

International Applications

Applications from overseas students can also be made via UCAS using the same secure web-based application system.

Filling in your UCAS Form

It is important that you complete all sections of the form as any decisions that we make will depend upon the information that you give there. Make sure your form is complete and accurate.

Your current academic qualifications and any qualifications you are expecting to obtain are likely to be used to determine whether or not an offer can be made. Make sure you include details of all courses you have studied and are currently studying (Key Skills qualifications, AS Results and any GCSEs you are retaking should be included).

What happens to your application form?

Once the form has been checked by UCAS, it will be sent both electronically and on paper to each institution to which you have applied. You can track the progress of your application via the UCAS website.

Once your form is received at Teesside, it is logged centrally and sent to the appropriate School. Your form will then be read and assessed by an Admissions Tutor who will decide whether an offer should be made. Details of your offer can be viewed on the application tracking section of the UCAS website.

If we make you an offer we will invite you to attend one of our Applicant Visit Days.

Understanding your Offer

There are a number of offers that can be made.

Once an offer has been made, we will invite you to an Applicant Visit Day, where you will have an opportunity to meet with current staff and students.

There will be an opportunity to see our computing facilities and find out about University accommodation in Middlesbrough.

What next?

Once you have received decisions from all your choices, you will be asked by UCAS to select two offers that you wish to accept.

You will have to decide which offer is your first choice ("firm" offer) and which is your second choice ("insurance" offer). Any other offers that you have been made will automatically be declined by UCAS. If you have not received any conditional or unconditional offers you will be entered into the early clearing system "UCAS Extra".

And Finally...

If you are holding a conditional firm offer from Teesside and your exam results satisfy the requirements you will automatically be accepted by the university.

If you do not meet the conditions of the offer we will re-consider your application and may still decide to accept you, or may offer you a place on an alternative course.

If you are not accepted by us you will then be considered by your insurance choice.

If you fail to be accepted by your insurance choice you will automatically be entered into Clearing.

Clearing

Clearing is designed for students who have not been accepted by their firm or insurance choices or have decided to apply late. If you are not accepted by your firm or insurance choices, you will be entered into Clearing and will automatically be sent a Clearing Passport.

If you are interested in any of our courses, you should first contact us to find out whether vacancies exist and whether or not you can be accepted onto the course. If we offer you a place on a course and you accept the offer, you will need to send your CEF form to us to secure your place.

If you have not already applied through UCAS and are applying late, then don't hesitate to contact us if there is a course you are interested in. We will tell you if there are vacancies on your chosen course and whether you can be accepted onto it. We will send you a late application form which you can use to secure your place.
