Research Paradigms

This module will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to critically evaluate the use of evidence in computing and digital media, and to generate their own evidence-based material to justify their professional practice. This will involve students learning about different research strategies and data generation methods, and how the techniques of enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in the computing and digital media disciplines.

The content will be delivered via lectures, invited speakers, group-based practical work, study of academic publications and seminars. Support will be given via Blackboard, the online learning resource. In the seminars students will share their interests and exchange ideas, information and experience, and will analyse and critically evaluate published or exhibited academic work in computing and digital media.

Assessment involves students constructing a research proposal and investigating and evaluating a topic in computing and digital media.
