This module builds on the knowledge and skills developed in 2D Character Animation. It applies advanced character animation principles to the 2D and 3D digital medium.
Students will develop skills in facial expression and animating to dialogue, and further develop their skills in character design for the modelling and animating of complex 2D and 3D digital heads and characters.
At the end of the module, students will have a portfolio of 2D and 3D character animation exercises including a longer final piece animated to dialogue.
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to
Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. Each student will be required to design, construct and produce a convincing character animation sequence animated to dialogue using either 2D or 3D digital techniques, showing evidence of research into current theories and industry practice in relation to their final piece.
Introductory 3D Animation, Animation Principles and Concept Design are pre-requisites for this module.
This module must be taken in conjunction with 2D Character Animation.
