This module aims to give students a high level of competence in one or more multimedia authoring environments.
Students will gain an in-depth understanding of constituent media types and an ability to define the communication requirements of a multimedia application in terms of its required outcomes, project definition and specification. The module also explores Kiosk design, game paradigms, hybrid (on and off line) applications and performance optimisation.
The module encourages a dynamic approach to design, team working in multimedia design and production, and an understanding of resource and copyright management.
Students will develop an understanding of industrial practice in the production of multimedia materials and a high level of critical awareness of the relationship between content and interface design.

Student achievement will be measured by an In-Course Assessment consisting of two elements. The first element will assess the understanding of the multimedia development life cycle and the second will assess design and development skills in the production of a multimedia application.
Developing Multimedia Applications is a pre-requisite for this module.
