This module will develop students' abilities to carry out complex effects using standard and non-standard 3D/2D software and techniques.

Through practical work participants will enhance their essential skills by working on real world problems.

The module will specifically encourage students to manage their own development as they look for their own technical and creative solutions to visual problems.

The teaching emphasis during the module will be placed on the hands-on practical work needed to produce images of a high standard as required by this industry.

Students will be provided with an opportunity to create a portfolio of industry standard work that demonstrates their ability to complete difficult 3D visual and special effects.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

• Analyse, compare and contrast creative visual production problems.
• Construct and design appropriate practical methods and solutions to industry acceptable standards.
• Create imagery as specified in an industry standard brief to achieve a wide range of effects.
• Appraise work using language common to the industry.

Student achievement will be measured by In Course Assessment.

Effects Animation is a pre-requisite of this module.
