Character Modelling for Games

This module will build on the design and modelling techniques learned in the Environment Modelling for Games module.

Students will establish a set of criteria for the design and production of multi-resolution 3D character models using industry standard software and hardware. The problems associated with this process will also be discussed.

The module will examine the link between the artist, the programmer and the designer within a computer games development team, focusing on the role of the character 3D Artist.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. This will be a design exercise culminating in the production of a number of multi-resolution 3D character models that can be applied to a 3D computer game engine.

This module must be studied in conjunction with Environment Modelling for Games.

Drawing and Composition 1 and Introduction to 3D Modelling for Games are pre-requisites for this module.
