Consultancy is widely used within industry. Close collaboration between the client and the consultant allows the design and implementation of projects to be made, based on informed decisions.
This module will allow students to understand the role of the consultant and to be able to advise, influence or simply help clients to do things differently.
The student should also be able to help clients decide which data to collect in order to have the right information set to diagnose a problem. They will then be able to present a solution to the problem that they have diagnosed.
Another important aspect of Internet projects is to plan resources, time, tasks etc. appropriately in order to make sure that the project will be completed on time, to budget and at the expected standard.
Students will be able to investigate different tools and techniques used in consultancy and will know the importance and effectiveness of a client-centred approach.

Student achievement is measured by In-Course Assessment. This is split into 50% on the consultancy topic and 50% on the project management topic. The assessment involves students in intensive group-based practical case studies as well as individual tasks requiring them to research, analyse and propose suitable technical solutions for their clients.
