Concept Development

This module takes some of the ideas presented in the Concept Design module and expands upon them, enabling the student to become proficient in the creation of many of the key components of the animation pre-production process.

Students will gain knowledge on producing project planning and budgeting, scriptwriting, concept art, character design, storyboarding and animation bibles to a professional standard.

The module will allow students to investigate the generation of mood and atmosphere within animation, through colour, lighting, camera movement, style, shot and set composition.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. This will require students to demonstrate that they are capable of preparing an animated film project to the point where animators could begin production.
