This module looks at the learner and the use of electronic and other technologies in the teaching, learning and assessment process.

The topics covered include an introduction to educational technology, courseware and computer assisted learning (CAL), learner modelling, courseware engineering, courseware evaluation, delivery and assessment.

At the end of the module a student should be equipped to understand the importance of the learner in the teaching and learning process and the ways in which courseware and learning technologies can aid this process. The student will also gain practical skills in courseware design, development and delivery.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

• Create technology-based learning solutions to support education and training.
• Identify potential applications in the areas of educational training.
• Select practical technology-based solutions for educators and trainers.
• Appreciate the importance of the learner and the relevance of research into learning technologies and courseware design.

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment.
