This module extends the knowledge and skills developed in 2D and 3D Character Animation. It gives students the opportunity to specialise and experiment with 2D and/or 3D digital techniques in order to create their own unique character animation style.
The module explores a range of contemporary character animation styles and state-of-the-art digital character animation techniques. Students will be encouraged to develop their own unique style by experimenting with character design, character movement and the creative use of camera, lighting and sound.
Students investigate state-of-the-art technical developments in the field of character animation and the innovative uses of 2D, 3D and a combination of both techniques.
At the end of the module, students will have a portfolio of digital character animation tests plus a longer final piece that demonstrates innovation and experimentation in terms of style or technique.
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to
Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. Each student will be required to provide evidence of research, development and experimentation in terms of style and technique before embarking on the design and production of a digital character animation scenario using 2D, 3D or a combination of both techniques.
Either 2D Character Animation or 3D Character Animation must be done as a pre-requisite for this module.
