Creative Use of Music Software and Hardware

In this module students will build upon their understanding and experience of using music technology and software packages gained in the Music Software and Hardware module.

Music technology, software packages, plug-ins and related audio generation, manipulation and recording techniques will be expanded upon and explored for their creative potential. Sound synthesis will be studied in detail.

The use of MIDI + audio sequencers, audio editors, software samplers and synthesisers and music object programming systems will be investigated in the contexts of working with music and sound effects for

Student achievement will be measured by In-course Assessment, which will involve the creation of a selective portfolio of work demonstrating an appreciation of relevant aesthetic considerations and an understanding of the concepts behind, and practical competence in, music technology, music software and associated techniques.

Introduction to Digital Music and Music Software and Hardware are pre-requisites for this module.
