This module will introduce students to the methods of developing creative textures and applying them to 3D models used within a real-time gaming environment. In order to achieve this, students will be exposed to industry standard 2D image manipulation software and input devices such as scanners.
This module will also be used to develop the student's design skills and their ability to convey ideas and concepts graphically. Students will be given an understanding of creative and technical issues when working in both rendered and real-time environments.
Students are encouraged to generate creative solutions to design problems specifically for computer games, and discuss the development of their work.
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to
Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. This will be a design exercise culminating in the production of 2D computer generated images that can be applied to a 3D gaming environment.
Drawing and Composition 1 and Introduction to 3D Modelling for Games are pre-requisites for this module.
