Environment Modelling for Games

This module will build on the design and modelling techniques learnt in the Introduction to 3D Modelling for Games module.

The student will learn the techniques used specifically in the production of 3D models for use within computer games and other real time applications, such as Virtual Reality. Emphasis will be given to modelling low polygon environments for use in a typical 3D computer game.

Lectures will be used to explain the principles behind 3D modelling for games, including the design processes used within today's computer game development teams.

In practical terms, the module will be aided by the use of industry standard modelling software and hardware.

On successful completion of the module, a student will be able to

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment in the form of a design exercise culminating in the production of a three dimensional environment that can be applied to a 3D computer game engine.

This module must be studied in conjunction with either Character Modelling for Games or Animation for Games.

Drawing and Composition 1 and Introduction to 3D Modelling for Games are pre-requisites for this module.
