Games Interface Design

This module introduces the creative processes of planning and designing a rational navigation interface for games using a variety of creative methods, including hand-drawn and digital artwork (Photoshop) and Interface construction.

Students will be introduced to the history of interface design, from early coin operated systems to present day consoles.

The module will teach students to recognize and apply 'interface psychology', having gained an understanding of how users interact with colour, layout and content.

The student will discuss and explore design, interactivity, navigation and interface psychology through a series of lectures and lab based sessions.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment. The set project will involve creating a working interface to specific criteria and a short report.

Either Games Design and Production 2 or Digital Imaging and Texturing for Games is a pre-requisite for this module.
