Introduction to Learning Technology

This module looks at the current and historical applications of learning technologies.

Learning, teaching and assessment practices are considered, including how people learn and the diverse needs of learners.

The module will also detail practical guidance in the design and development of e-learning applications.

Students taking this module will be encouraged to identify samples of work for inclusion in a professional portfolio.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

Demonstrate an appreciation of accepted learning, teaching and assessment practices and processes.
Identify and describe a range of learning technology applications and approaches.
Analyse and design an e-learning application using current techniques with recognition of the diverse needs of a range of learners.
Demonstrate skills in the development of an e-learning application.

Student achievement will be measured through an In-Course Assessment. This will normally involve a staged hand-in, in order to facilitate feedback.
