Learner Modelling

This module builds on the foundations established in the first year Introduction to Learning Technology module.

During this module students will be introduced to established theories of learning (e.g. constructivism and behaviourism) and will explore ways in which these theories can be used to underpin the design and development of e-learning applications.

The module will introduce learner modelling methods and will detail how these can be incorporated into the planning and delivering of e-learning solutions.

Different ways of addressing learners' accessibility needs when developing e-learning applications will be investigated. Students will also discuss, investigate and experiment with computer-aided assessment methods and approaches.

Students taking this module will be encouraged to identify samples of work for inclusion in a professional portfolio.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

This module will be assessed through a group project (ideally involving a live client) in which the students will plan, design and deliver an e-learning solution to a given scenario.

Introduction to Learning Technology is a pre-requisite for this module.
