This module will cover the design of mobile applications that integrate with enterprise data.

During the module a service-oriented architecture approach will be adopted that will enable students to analyse and design an application utilising widely distributed data.

Students will be encouraged to consider the design and development of an effective presence on mobile devices.

The balance between security, the user interface, performance and accessibility will be examined and the problems associated with updateable data explored.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

• Discuss suitable architectures for an enterprise-level application that uses distributed data.
• Design, from a provided architecture, an enterprise-level application that uses distributed data.
• Construct a mobile application that implements part of an overall design.
• Compare the advantages and disadvantages of service-oriented and other methods of development.

Student achievement will be measured by an In-Course Assessment.

Mobile Enterprise Development is a pre-requisite for this module.
