This module will cover the design of mobile applications that specifically make use of server based information.
During the module a web engineering approach will be adopted. This will enable students to analyse and design an application that is coupled to a live database. Microsoft technology will be used for the development.
Three technologies (object-orientation, client/server and mobile development) will be examined to see how they can combine to support application development.
The module will consider cache strategies.
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to
The module assessment will require some group work to analyse and design a medium sized data-driven mobile application. Individuals will then be expected to develop solutions for parts of an overall mobile application.
This module requires a pre-requisite of either Java Programming 2 or Visual Programming 2 or C++ Programming 2.
Database Systems must be taken in conjunction with this module.
