This module is designed to make students consider technological advances and practical applications in new media.

New media content analysis and design is based around semiotics. Related disciplines will lead students into individual investigations of emerging or hypothetical new media technologies.

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to

• Make reasoned judgements about the nature of emerging new media technologies.
• Make reasoned estimations of the utilisations of emerging new media technologies.
• Apply appropriate theory to the critical evaluation of new media applications.
• Apply appropriate theory to the design of new media applications.

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment.

This module requires a pre-requisite of either Developing Multimedia Applications or Web Scripting.
