This module is a large scale, individual piece of work undertaken by the student under the supervision of a member of the academic staff. It takes place over the full academic year, involving the creation of a very substantial product, and culminates in the writing of a report, a presentation, a demonstration and a discussion.
Guidance is given to develop an appropriate sense of work-discipline coupled with a professional outlook. Students are expected to take responsibility for the planning and execution of an extended piece of work.
The student is able to explore in depth a chosen subject area, and thereby demonstrate the ability to analyse, synthesise, and creatively apply what has already been studied on the course, whilst demonstrating critical and evaluative skills.
