Recording Studio and Post Production

This module introduces the environment, equipment, practices, skills and techniques associated with recording studios. It explores the technical and creative possibilities of such a facility and its application to audio recording, mastering and post-production.

The module also covers recent technological advances in the digitisation of 'traditional' recording equipment.

Students are encouraged to view the contents and aims of this module as a means of enhancing and consolidating their own music making experiences. The various recording studio applications to media post-production are also investigated.

Student achievement will be measured by In-Course Assessment, which will involve demonstrating the extent to which theoretical concepts and practical techniques learned and practiced have been assimilated.

Music Software and Hardware and Introduction to Digital Music are pre-requisites for this module.

Creative Use of Music Software and Hardware is a co-requisite for this module.
