For over 30 years we have delivered internationally recognised Higher National Certificates and Diplomas that have equipped our students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current or future employment or for progression to an undergraduate degree.
We offer the following part time HNC/D courses. They all have the same content as our full time HND courses, except that they are taught over a longer period. They are designed to enable students to obtain an HNC in 2 years and an HND in 3 years.
The courses are taught on Day Release, meaning that you would spend one whole day a week in the University studying. Usually, the same day each week. The Web based courses may be on split days due to timetabling constraints.
Our computing courses in Information Technology and Software Development both provide essential core skills in communications, IT and Internet applications whilst covering the fundamentals of visual programming and database systems.
We offer two Web based courses. Both provide essential skills in web page construction, multimedia content production (images, sounds and so on) as well as dealing with the professional issues encountered by web developers in business. The Web Development course emphasises the technical aspects of the web (programming, databases etc); while in contrast, the Web Design course emphasises the artistic side of digital image production and manipulation.
All of our HNC/D programmes include transferable skills - for example, the ability to work as part of a team; the ability to think creatively and the ability to manage time effectively.
Students appreciate the fact that there are fewer timed tests and more projects, enabling them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to their full potential. In this way students have greater control over their performance, which is graded throughout the course.
If you don't want to study for a full HNC/D, we also offer a range of short Professional Development courses. These cover a variety of topics and, over time, can be built up to the award of a range of qualifications.
