Fundamentals of Multimedia

10 credits Level 1
Prerequisite: Introduction to IT

The module introduces students to the processes involved in producing a multimedia application. These include requirements analysis, interface design, storyboards, testing and evaluation of the end product. The module will have a practical emphasis, using Macromedia Flash to produce assets and objects for cross platform applications.

Multimedia Authoring

10 credits Level 1
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Multimedia

This module builds on the pre-requisite module Fundamentals of Multimedia by examining the constituent components that make up a multimedia application in more detail. This includes sound and asset creation and their role within a multimedia product (Macromedia Flash). There is emphasis on the scripting language and related principles that make more complex animation and interactions possible.

Introduction to Computer Music

10 credits Level 1
Prerequisite: Introduction to IT

During this module you will find out about the creation of computer-based music. The module introduces Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) and explores the internet as a source of sound data. The implications of copyright issues are also investigated.
