The Special Needs Computing Research Unit is an active body of academics, research staff and postgraduate students who have an interest in the use of computers to support people with very individual requirements, whose needs may be a result of physical, sensory or learning difficulties. Advances in technology and software design can greatly benefit the lives of people with special needs and can help them play a fuller role in society. This group works in collaboration with companies, organisations, educational establishments and individuals on a number of regional, national and international projects. Many of these projects are collaborative ventures to help improve the lives of people with special needs or to increase awareness and understanding of these needs in the community.
