Computer Graphics, once a specialist subject within computer science, has grown over recent years into a mature discipline that is becoming ubiquitous in today's world. It has spawned new industries and has greatly influenced all forms of visual media such as television, computer games, medicine, simulator technology, advertising and marketing.
BSc (Hons) Visualisation, BSc (Hons) Computer Graphics Science and BSc (Hons) 3D Reconstruction & Visualisation all provide opportunities for you to develop the core skills of problem solving in graphical mathematics and graphics programming that are essential to any visualisation practitioner.
BSc Visualisation has a relatively small collection of "must do" modules and could be considered to be a semi-generic degree; this allows students to build upon a graphics foundation in a direction of their choice. Modules from our games collection, animation, multimedia and computing catalogues are available.
BSc Computer Graphics Science is more specialised, with additional graphics programming elements and courses in graphical hardware and 3D graphics as part of the core degree.
BSc 3D Reconstruction & Visualisation concentrates on the latest techniques found in computer graphics to create digital representations and reconstructions for various applications, such as architectural visualisation, heritage or crime scene reconstruction.
The School uses its close links with industry to ensure students are exposed to real-world problem solving through placement, course work and assignments.
The Graphics staff within the School have many years experience at all levels within industry and research. We understand the pressures of working in a constantly changing and growing industry and will ensure you have the right skills to thrive.
