Multimedia and the Web

Our portfolio of Multimedia courses are differentiated by their emphasis between on-line and off-line applications and the prominence of either technically centred or creative centred skills.

If your prefer to work with concepts, visual communication, and specialise in the preparation of media content such as video, images, sound and music then either BA (Hons) Web Design, BA (Hons) Creative Multimedia or the new BA (Hons) Mobile Entertainment is for you.

BA Web Design focuses on the design of on-line multimedia applications, BA Creative Multimedia specialises in producing content for off-line multimedia applications and BA Mobile Entertainment teaches students how to develop content for mobile devices.

If you like to get your hands on the technology, then programming and databases are essential skills. BSc (Hons) Web Development and BSc (Hons) Digital Media Applications both address these needs.

BSc Digital Media Applications focuses on general design, development and authoring for both on-line and off-line applications while BSc Web Development specialises in web-based information sites and systems.

Our new BSc (Hons) Learning Technology degree produces graduates aimed specifically at the new and expanding field of Learning Technology. During this degree students will study web and multimedia development with a specific emphasis on e-learning.

Teesside has a close connections with the multimedia and web industry and our teaching staff include industry practitioners and consultants with experience at all levels of the industry. We use these links to ensure the course work is directly related to tasks found in studios and that it is completed using industry standard software.

Not only will our students gain the necessary skills to progress through their chosen career in Multimedia, but they will also have transferable skills that will make them attractive to other professions.

We strongly believe that placements are a key aspect of your degree. We push our students to meet the pressures expected within the multimedia industry and we get good results from employers when it comes to sending our students out into industry, whether it be a placement year or full time employment.
